Data Discovery

SlashDB automatically builds a REST-ful API out of connected databases. The API provides access to your data for reading and writing in the following formats: HTML, JSON, CVS, XML, and XSD. Just click on a link or send a HTTP request from your application to the auto-generated REST API.

Databases list

The Data Discovery page provides a list of all data sources available for viewing and interaction.

Type

This column provides a description of the database's system type.

Description

This column provides a short description of the database.

The colored buttons allow users to view the databases in the HTML, JSON, CSV, XML and XSD formats. To view the database in one of the formats, click on the preferred format.

Status

The Status column displays whether the database is Connected or Disconnected from SlashDB.

Action

The action button will appear when a user has administrative permissions. The button disconnects and reconnects databases to SlashDB. This is typically done when the database has been altered and needs to refresh the data discovery API.

The Search field allows users to search all databases setup in SlashDB. To conduct a search, input the search terms in the field and the database list will automatically filter the results. The search engine will search the Database ID, Type and Description columns.

Format buttons

The buttons located on right hand corner of the page work just like the buttons located in the Database list. They allow users to view the database list in the JSON, CSV, XML or XSD format. HTML is the default view. To return to HTML view, click the back button on the internet browser.
